(2006) Feds joining real estate fraud probe from The Denver Business Journal
Investors from Castle Rock to Fort Collins who have filed a succession of lawsuits alleging real estate fraud by a group of Windsor-based companies specializing in real estate debt relief soon may get help from federal and state officials. Dozens of investors -- including Kelly Young, widow of slain Denver detective Donald Young -- have filed lawsuits, hoping to recoup millions of dollars in losses as a result of real estate deals gone sour. Now, state and federal regulators and prosecutors are looking into the operations of Darin V. DeVoe, who operated through companies -- including Home Owner's Solutions, Home Owner's Trust and The DeVoe Group -- that are named in a dozen or more lawsuits alleging fraud, breach of contract and deceptive business practices.

(2006) Lawsuits involving Darin DeVoe from The Greeley Tribunel
DOUGLAS COUNTY Kelly Young v. Darin DeVoe, The DeVoe Group LLC, Home Solutions Real Estate, Home Owners Solution, Janet Sue Davenport, Terry Alice Hastings, Hastings Real Estate and New Horizons and Associates Inc.
The complaint alleges breach of contract and violation of the Colorado Consumer Protection Act for failure to close on Young's house, which she contracted to buy for $345,000 in January. Home is actually upside down by about $40,000 and sellers continue to delay closing. Attorney John Trueax has had trouble finding DeVoe to serve him, and may soon publish such service in the newspaper to satisfy requirements to serve him. All other parties have been served, and some answers have been filed seeking the dismissal of claims.

(2005) 911 Dispatcher Sued for Not Sending Police Quickly from ABC News
A Colorado mother is suing a 911 operator for not sending the police quickly enough to rescue her daughter from being kidnapped. After two calls, it took 47 minutes for police to arrive on the scene. Le Thu Nguyen was abducted by Omar Green, the father of her two children, on a July morning four years ago. He forced his way into her car, drove around for some time, and then killed her in Denver's City Park. Her body was found later in her car by family and friends. In December 2002, Green was sentenced to life in prison plus 12 years for first-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping and third-degree assault. "I think when 911 is called they should have responded," Susan Duvall, Nguyen's mother, said. "It's an emergency." Duvall said it didn't have to end this way. She said that Denver dispatcher Jeanette Price answered two calls about what looked like an extremely volatile situation between a man and a woman: one from Duvall and one from a pizza-delivery man.

(2002) Hidden Damage from The Denver Westword - Article by Alan Prendergrast
Some calamities begin with a letter, others with a phone call. An argument. A drink. A wrong turn. In the case of Sunserea McClelland, catastrophe comes at her from behind one snowy spring morning. She never sees it coming. Seconds later, her whole world turns upside down. All changed, changed utterly. And she doesn't even know it yet. On April 10, 1997, the 24-year-old assistant office manager is heading for work, snugly belted in her Mitsubishi Eclipse. Her sons, six-year-old Jaysun and five-year-old Josh, are in the car with her, bound for school and daycare. Coming down a hill on West Dakota Avenue, on the edge of the Green Mountain subdivision, McClelland sees a truck at the bottom of the hill fishtailing on the snow-slicked road as it heads toward her. She slows down, then stops.
